7 BCL men hurt in cop, JCD swoop at Ctg college

Witnesses said the JCD cadres, led by city unit President Mosharraf Hossain Dipti, went to the college at around 11:00am allegedly to occupy it. But the BCL activists locked the main gate to keep them from entering.

A few minutes later Double Mooring police forced the activists to open the gate and allegedly resorted to baton charge on BCL activists.

JCD members also beat up BCL activists as well as general students and left the college at around 1:00pm, BCL leaders claimed.

BCL General Secretary Sohel, Vice-president Tanvir Ahmed Rinku, Shahriar, Dolon and Mokter were injured.

Agitating BCL activists brought out a procession on the campus. They also demonstrated at Agrabad commercial area protesting the police attack. A rally was held at the college gate.

However, police said the knew nothing about the matter.

It was the fourth such showdown this month on the Commerce College campus.
