BNP MP's brother not produced before court
Judge Jahangir Alam Mollah issued the order on the jail super as he (jailer) showed negligence in producing Reazuddin Ahmed Monir, brother of the ruling BNP MP, Nasir Uddin Ahmed Pintu, an accused in the Keraniganj double murder case, before the court yesterday.
The court also asked the jail super to submit the report by July 20.
In the order, the judge mentioned that the accused Monir was not produced before the court yesterday though it was fixed for trial of the case. Moreover, the jail authorities did not inform the court of not producing the accused in the court. So, the court could not begin trial of the case.
The complainant and first prosecution witness of the case, Amir Hamza, was present in the court to give his statement.
Amir Abullah alias Shakil, 26, secretary of the Zinjira Market Association and sports secretary of the Zinjira Union Jubo Dal, succumbed to his injuries and one Sentu, 30, a lessee of a cattle market at Zinjira Bazar, was shot dead on February 16, last year allegedly by the accused and his companions.
Monir and eight others are in jail custody while 10 others are on bail. Talim, Azad, Jabed and Meshbah have been absconding since the incident.
Special Public Prosecutor Harun-ur-Rashid Khan appeared for the state while Masud Ahmed Talukder for the accused.
