Dy speaker will again invite AL to talks in a couple of days
The letter will be a reply to the letter of the Deputy Leader of the Opposition Abdul Hamid, the deputy speaker told the news agency last night.
His first initiative to invite Advocate Hamid to a tea party with LGRD Minister Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan and Chief Whip Khandaker Delwar Hossain on July 28 failed as the opposition leader did not turn up.
The deputy speaker said he would continue his efforts to resolve the current parliamentary stalemate through negotiations between the government and the opposition.
Asked if he would be able to bring the Awami League lawmakers back to the House, he said: "It's difficult to say since they (AL) did not turn up at the tea party."
The AL walked out of the House on June 25 following a state minister's aspersion on its chief Sheikh Hasina and decided the next day not to return until the ruling coalition met its three- point demand
Meanwhile, parliament resumes its session at 4:pm today after a four-day recess.
