AL meets OIC member state envoys over SQ Chy's nomination

Staff Correspondent
The main opposition Awami League meets ambassadors of the member states of the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) in Dhaka tomorrow to apprise them about the party position on Bangladesh's candidate to secretary general of the OIC.

AL sources said the party would present before the OIC envoys proofs of Salauddin Quader Chowdhury's controversial role during the Liberation War.

AL has been opposing Salauddin's candidature ever since his name was announced.

AL General Secretary Abdul Jalil wrote a letter to Prime Minister Khaleda Zia on June 2 urging her to replace SQ Chowdhury with an 'acceptable' candidate.
