BCL's hartal today

A pro-hartal poster hangs on a closed gate of Dhaka University yesterday. The Bangladesh Chhatra League will enforce the hartal countrywide today to protest the killing of its city leader Saiful Rasul Palash.
The Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) will observe a six-hour nationwide hartal from 6:00am today protesting the killing of BCL leader Saiful Rasul Palash.

Palash was the general secretary of the city's north unit.

BCL leaders and activists held a rally in front of their party office at

Bangabandhu Avenue yesterday afternoon. Addressing the rally they demanded immediate arrest and punishment of the killers of Palash.

"Our leaders and activists across the country also staged demonstrations in support of the hartal," BCL President Liakat Shikder said.

Palash was gunned down by a group of unknown assailants at a bus ticket counter at Kalyanpur.
