13 lower court judges, 26 staff infected with Covid-19

Thirteen judges and 26 staff members of lower courts across the country have tested positive for coronavirus till today.

Meanwhile, four lower court judges with Covid-19 symptoms are receiving treatment in isolation, supreme court sources said today.

Among the judges, District Judge of Netrakona Shahjahan Kabir and Chief Judicial Magistrate of Munshiganj Begum Rokeya Rahman, who had been infected with Covid-19, have already recovered and joined their services.

Ferdous Ahmed, judge of Nari O Shishu Nirjaton Daman Tribunal in Lalmonirhat, has been admitted at the intensive care unit of Combined Military Hospital; he has been given plasma therapy as well.

Begum Shamim Ahmed, judge of Special Judge Court-8 in Dhaka, has been admitted at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.

The other infected judges and staff members are receiving treatment at their respective residences, according to sources.

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain has talked to all the infected judges and asked the officials concerned to take necessary measures for their treatment.

Two separate committees have recently been formed to take steps to ensure treatment of the judges of the appellate and high court divisions of supreme court and judges of the subordinate courts across the country.
