Ten ventilators and an ambulance with modern equipment will be provided to Cox's Bazar Medical College Hospital for the treatment of Covid-19 patients in the district.

Dr Mohammad Mohiuddin, in-charge of the Cox's Bazar hospital, told The Daily Star that he submitted a letter in this regard this morning to the health ministry and expressed hope that the ventilators and ambulance will be received within a couple days.

The addition of the ventilators will enhance treatment for Covid-19 patients at the hospital, he added.

Earlier yesterday, Helaluddin Ahmed, senior secretary to the Local Government Division (LGD), announced to take the steps for providing the ventilators and ambulance during a video conference with top officials of Cox's Bazar district administration and the health department, Dr Mahbubur said.

During the meeting, the senior secretary inquired about the limitations being faced in providing Covid-19 treatment in the district, to which everyone agreed that lack of ventilators at the hospital was an urgent need, he said.

The senior secretary communicated this to two additional secretaries and a joint secretary to the Health Services Division and announced that the hospital will be provided 10 ventilators and an ambulance with modern equipment within two to three days.
