Parents of English medium students demand reopening of schools based on vaccination

As schools nationwide are set to reopen tomorrow after one and half years, parents of English medium students today demanded that the reopening happen in phases -- on the basis of vaccination and reliable safety measures at the educational institutions.

The demand came from a press conference arranged by Bangladesh English Medium School Parents Forum today.

The parents said they were not mentally ready to send their children back to school unless all students were vaccinated and schools took all-out measures to maintain Covid-19 health guideline.

Speaking at the programme, Forum President AKM Ashraful Haque said all students, teachers and staff members should get vaccinated before schools reopen.

He proposed that students aged 12-18 should get vaccinated in the first phase and those younger get vaccinated in the second phase.

Ashraful Haque also demanded 30 to 50 percent waiver on tuition fees based on the category of schools during the Covid-19 pandemic.
