Countrywide symbolic class on Aug 22: Activists demand reopening of educational institutions

Left-leaning student organisations today announced a countrywide "symbolic class" programme on August 22 demanding the resumption of all educational institutions in the country.

Rashed Shahriar, coordinator of the "Progressive Students' Alliance", announced the programme at a rally today in front of Raju Memorial Sculpture at Dhaka University, reports our DU correspondent.

The programme will be held at Dhaka University campus on August 22 around 11 am, with teachers and students in attendance under Progressive Students Alliance's banner.

The rally also called for an end to corruption, mismanagement regarding Covid vaccines, and waiver of student fees.

The government shut down all educational institutions in March last year to keep students safe from Covid-19 infections.

Although all commercial institutions have been open for some time, only educational institutions have not been allowed to reopen yet.
