Woman killed in front of daughter as bus hits her in Dhaka’s Matuail

A woman was killed in front of her daughter after a bus hit her in Dhaka's Matuail area this morning.

The deceased was identified as Mariyam Begum (48), who hailed from Lakshmipur Sadar upazila.

The accident happened around 11:00am when the woman along with her daughter were on the way to a cosmetic shop from their Muslimnagar house nearby.

As they were crossing the road near Matuail Institute of Child and Mother Health, a Meghaloy Paribahan bus hit her.

In critical state, she was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead, said victim's daughter Jannat Akter, who was unhurt as she was behind her mother.

"I saw my mother being crashed by the bus, but could do nothing," Jannat was wailing at the hospital.

The body was sent to hospital morgue for autopsy.

Mazharul Islam, officer-in-charge of Jatrabari Police Station said police seized the bus and detained its driver after the accident.
