Keep live track of the flood situation with Google

The flood situation across the country, particularly in the Sylhet region is worsening. To keep a better tab on the situation and get an early warning about the situation, Google can come in handy.

Globally, including in Bangladesh, Google launched a few major features including the option of tracking natural disasters like storms, floods or earthquakes. You do not need to activate anything to get the alters. All you need is the Google Search installed on your smartphones (works with some other Google products as well i.e. Google Now, Chrome).

You can also search any area by name with the word flood beside it to see check the flood situation there.

Google displays the flood forecasting alert only when the water at the river is or is expected to be higher than the warning level, which estimates when a river floods. This predefined warning water level is usually defined based on historical flood events and provided to Google by Bangladesh Water Development Board.

Moreover, leveraging AI and computational power, Google is able to create forecasting models that predict when and where floods will occur.
