Instagram finally lets you tap-to-pause Reels
Meta has introduced a new feature on Instagram that allows users to pause videos on Reels with a single tap, marking a change to one of the platform’s longstanding interface limitations.
The update comes 5 years after the short-form video feature was first introduced. Until now, users could only pause a Reel by pressing and holding a finger on the screen, with playback resuming as soon as the touch was released.
The new “tap-to-pause” function enables users to stop playback with a simple tap, offering more control over how content is viewed. When paused, users are also presented with additional options, including the ability to mute audio.
The change was confirmed by Instagram’s head, Adam Mosseri, who announced the update on his verified account.
