ByteDance pauses global launch of Seedance 2.0: report
ByteDance has reportedly delayed the global release of its new artificial intelligence (AI) video model, Seedance 2.0, following concerns raised by companies about potential intellectual property (IP) violations.
According to a recent report by The Information, the company had initially planned to introduce the model to international markets in mid-March but has paused the rollout while its legal and engineering teams work to address potential legal risks.
ByteDance, best known as the parent company of TikTok, first launched Seedance 2.0 in China in February. Shortly after its release, short clips generated by the model began circulating widely online.
Among the widely shared examples was a video depicting the actors Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt engaged in a fictional fight sequence. The clip attracted significant attention on social media but also drew criticism from members of the film industry.
