The Amar Ekushey Book Fair -- one of the most cherished cultural gatherings in the country -- ended yesterday, leaving many publishers disappointed as they felt the event was more symbolic than successful this year.

Dr Ejaz immediately called the child closer and said warmly, “Give me the tea. Serve everyone tea.” The child’s joy seemed boundless. As the conversation came to an end, Dr Ejaz smiled and said, “Coming to the book fair feels wonderful — truly wonderful.”

Even after the organisers and Bangla Academy offered a 55 percent subsidy on stall costs, a significant number of publishers maintained their decision to not participate.
