On the streets of Dhaka
Last week, a man dressed in bright colours walked from one street to another, tasting food and analysing to the very last bit. Be it the Dhaka Bakarkhani, the potatoes in the biriyani or the parata served with tonger cha, he took in everything. None other than Matt Preston, world famous food critic and writer, was seen strolling the streets of the capital along with people from agency Adcom and Rivoli – the recently launched chocolate chip cookies.
At a meeting with Matt Preston at the Lakeshore hotel, cleverly termed as Meet Matt, the 54-year-old ever smiling personality, famous in this part of the world for being one of the judges of Masterchef Australia, Preston was seen posing with people of all ages for selfies and photographs.
"All I heard was kaala-bhuna!" he exclaimed when asked if he had a chance to eat the famous traditional beef dish from Chittagong. According to him, the night before, two Chittagonian gentlemen had bombarded him with questions regarding kaala-bhuna and how he could possibly leave the country without having a taste. "I would love to taste and see what it's all about," he said when told that a pot of kaala-bhuna was waiting for him downstairs.
"You see that guy over there," pointed Preston at a gentleman standing a little further away, dressed in a dark suit and colourful scarves. "I think he should be the judge at Masterchef Bangladesh! He dresses up better than I do!"
And his quips continued. Matt Preston had something to say to each of his fans, not to mention answering everyone's questions.
His facebook page is filled with pictures of some of the delicacies he tasted in Dhaka. We are sharing some of the photographs here with the readers!
