The Chowk Bazaar Rush

At the heart of Dhaka's Ramadan festivities stands the timeless Chowk Bazaar. Its four hundred year long history began in the Mughal Era when King Maan Singh moved his head office in Bawal to the Dhaka Central Jail in the old town. Today, Chowk Bazaar has not only become a historical trademark but also a booming iftaar market. Popular for its cornucopia of unusual but delicious dishes ranging from the famous Shuta Kabab to its giant Jilapis, and not to mention "Boro Baper Polae Khae" a hodgepodge of every iftaar item imaginable.
