The Beach Guitarist

At the Patenga beach in Chittagong, more than 40 shops offer photography services to tourists. Around 150 unskilled photographers take photographs with their compact digital cameras at 20 taka a piece for a 4×6 print. Photographers and shop owners are very disappointed as the business declined sharply due to cell phones with cameras and digital cameras that most of the visitors carry. Beach photographers try to make the whole experience all the more exciting for the tourists by coming up with innovative props and poses -- from hats, sunglasses to guitars. Almost everyone opts to take pictures with a guitar. Photographers usually have atleast 50-60 guitars put aside (some of them without strings) at the Patenga beach. What a delight for the tourists!
