Is rail the new frontier in export-import for Bangladesh-India?

For the past 50 years Bangladesh has been unable to export goods via the Indian railway.

However, India has recently lifted the restriction. Bangladesh can now export goods to India through rail.

But why did India previously restrict Bangladesh from exporting goods via trains? How much will Bangladesh gain if the railway exports resume?
