The Kali river in Kushtia is better known to locals as a dead river. The history of grabbing this river dates back to the British era, continuing through Pakistan era, and till present days.

Rail lines, roads, homes and fish farms were built by filling up the river. With the passage of time, the once flowing river is well on its way to dry up entirely.

The Daily Star reporter Amanur Aman went to observe the condition of the Kali river. He shares his findings in today's Star on the Spot.
