In memory of Crack Platoon guerrillas and their resilience on August 29, 1971
The courageous operations led by the guerrillas of the Crack Platoon in Dhaka put the Pakistani military on their toes in 1971. Trained in the Melaghar camp in India's Tripura, they made their first mark in the Liberation War history through Operation Hotel Intercontinental.
To capture the guerrillas the Pakistani military conducted raids from August 29 to the dawn of August 30. But the guerrillas refused to give up the names of their comrades despite the brutal torture in the Pakistani military's torture cells.
Today's Star Special is in commemoration of their sacrifice and resilience.
