Sri Lankan national tests Covid-19 positive in Chattogram

A Sri Lankan national tested positive for Covid-19 in Chattogram today.

The 48-year-old man is an entrepreneur in the readymade garment sector in CEPZ, reports our Chattogram correspondent quoting Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram.

The Sri Lankan national lives in Khulshi area of the port city, he said.

Meanwhile, a 50-year-old Covid-19 patient, who was undergoing treatment in Chattogram General Hospital since May 2, died today, said Dr Abdur Rob, a senior consultant of medicine at the hospital.

With this death, a total of nine Covid-19 patients have died in Chattogram so far, while 41 patients have recovered, said civil surgeon Rabbi.

The Sri Lankan citizen is one of 13 newly detected Covid-19 patients in Chattogram tested in Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University yesterday.

The report came today and the figure has not been yet included in the national data, said the civil surgeon, adding that a total of 129 patients have been detected Covid-19 positive so far in Chattogram.
