South Africa captain Temba Bavuma has won the toss and elected to bat first against Bangladesh in the two teams' second Super 12 fixture of the T20 World Cup at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in Australia today.

Given rain in forecast during match, it was an interesting decision from South Africa to bat first, since teams tend to have the advantage during chasing a revised target in rain-curtailed matches.

Off-spinner Mehedi Hasan Miraz replaces Yasir Ali as Bangladesh made one change in their playing eleven from the one that featured in the nine-run against the Netherlands in their campaign opener on Monday.

Meanwhile, South Africa are also featuring a single change following their Zimbabwe encounter, which was abandoned due to rain, as they opted to sideline pacer Lungi Ngidi in favour of spinner Tabraiz Shamsi.

Both Bangladesh and South Africa will be playing their first-ever T20I match at the SCG. While the Proteas will be desperate to bag their first win of the tournament, the Tigers would be looking to build on the momentum and win a T20I match against South Africa for the first time after results of previous seven encounters -- including two T20 World Cup matches in 2007 and 2021 -- went in favour of the African side.
