Rossouw strikes T20 WC's first ton as Tigers face uphill battle
Rilee Rossouw struck the first century of the ongoing T20 World Cup as South Africa batters took apart Bangladesh bowling after electing to bat first in the two sides' second Super 12 fixture of the ongoing mega event in Sydney today.
Despite losing skipper Temba Bavuma in the first over, the Proteas rode on a brilliant blitz from Rossouw, a 109 off 56 balls, and a quick-fire 38-ball 63 from opener Quinton de Kock to post a commanding 205 for five after 20 overs. Rossow struck seven fours and eight sixes while de Kock featured seven fours and three sixes.
All Bangladesh bowlers, Mustafizur Rahman and Mosaddek Hossain aside, went for more than eight runs per over. Shakib scalped the most wickets for the Tigers, with two.
De Kock departed after he stitched a record-breaking 81-ball 168-run stand for the second-wicket with fellow left-hander Rossouw to construct the highest partnership in T20 World Cup history and also the third-highest stand in T20 internationals. De Kock, Rossouw's partnership surpassed Sri Lanka batters Mahela Jayawardene and Kumara Sangakkara's 166-run stand for the second-wicket in the 2010 edition of the T20 World Cup.
Rossouw struck his second T20I century following his unbeaten 48-ball ton against India earlier this month. Rossouw's ton happens to be the tenth century in T2O World Cups so far.
