Barcelona lead clubs’ WC final four roll call, Atletico and Arsenal close behind
As the FIFA World Cup reaches the semifinals with France, Spain, England and Argentina still standing, Europe’s top clubs continue to dominate the player pool.
LaLiga holders Barcelona lead the way with 10 semifinalists, spearheaded by Spain stars Lamine Yamal, Dani Olmo, Pedri and Pau Cubarsi, while Jules Kounde represents France and new signing Anthony Gordon have regularly featured for England in the North American edition.
Fellow Spanish heavyweights Atletico Madrid are next with nine players, supplying a strong Argentine contingent led by Julian Alvarez and Giuliano Simeone, as well as several Spanish internationals.
English champions and runners-up in last season’s Champions League, Arsenal have eight players remaining, with Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka key to England’s run, Mikel Merino impressing for Spain and William Saliba anchoring France’s defence.
Back-to-back European champions Paris Saint-Germain boast six representatives, including France trio Ousmane Dembele, Bradley Barcola and Desire Doue, alongside Spain midfielder Fabian Ruiz.
Aston Villa and Manchester City each have five players in the final four, while Chelsea and Crystal Palace have four apiece, underlining the depth of talent spread across the English Premier League.
