Star Sports Report

Bangladesh’s national cycling champion and Guinness World Record holder, Rakibul Islam, has achieved a historic milestone by completing the prestigious UCI Level 2 Coaching Certificate.

The final phase of the programme took place from March 14 to 18 in Chiang Mai, Thailand, under the UCI World Cycling Centre (WCC), with official accreditation from the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the sport’s global governing body based in Aigle, Switzerland, said a press release.

Rakibul secured the highest marks across all modules among 12 successful candidates from 11 Asian countries, showcasing exceptional expertise in high-performance coaching, sports science and athlete development.

Having earlier received a fully funded UCI scholarship, he underwent a rigorous six-month training process, successfully completing all preliminary courses and final assessments.

“I am honoured to represent Bangladesh at this level. This is not just a personal achievement but a reflection of our country’s growing potential in cycling,” Rakibul said, adding that he hopes to pursue the UCI Level 3 Certification in Switzerland.
