In a significant milestone for golf development across South-East Asia, the Bangladesh Golf Federation (BGF), in partnership with The R&A, hosted its inaugural Level 2 Rules Seminar. The historic two-day event took place from 7–8 November 2025 at the Bangladesh Golf Academy.

The seminar successfully brought together 29 delegates -- 28 from Bangladesh and one from Nepal -- providing them with an advanced learning opportunity designed to deepen their understanding and application of the Rules of Golf.

Comprehensive learning and practical application

Experienced instructors guided the delegates through detailed indoor and outdoor sessions covering Rules 1 to 25, utilising official R&A materials. The curriculum was structured not only to impart in-depth technical knowledge but also to encourage active discussion, the sharing of experiences, and the strengthening of the growing network of local golfers and future referees.

A highlight of the programme was a practical, on-course role-play session. Participants stepped into the shoes of referees, addressing simulated scenarios and delivering live rulings. Each exercise was immediately followed by a constructive feedback session, directly linking theoretical knowledge to real-life situations and reinforcing the application of the rules under pressure.

The seminar was expertly led by a distinguished panel of certified instructors from the Bangladesh Golf Federation:

• Mr Abidur Reza Khan – Level 3 (TARs) Qualified

• Mr Faridul Mahmood – Level 3 (TARs) Qualified

• Mr Mahmdur Rahman Chow – R&A Level 3 Referee

The programme was closely monitored and supported by Ms Helina Meos and Mr Jin Woo Kim, Assistant Directors – Rules (Asia-Pacific) from The R&A, and Brig Gen Sayeed Siddiqi, Secretary General, BGF.

As golf continues to grow in popularity across South-East Asian countries such as Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and India, the R&A and the BGF are exploring ways to expand this vital rules education network throughout the region. This collaborative initiative aims to cultivate a new generation of trained officials -- essential for upholding the integrity and ensuring the continued growth of the sport.
