Adam Abbas joins U-20 camp as Wahid moves to Boreham Wood

UK-based Bangladeshi footballer Adam Abbas has arrived in Bangladesh to join the national Under-20 camp ahead of the AFC U-20 Asian Cup qualifiers, while another highly rated diaspora prospect, Farhan Ali Wahid, has joined National League side Boreham Wood on loan from Fulham.

Abbas, a winger who has previously been with the Manchester United and Burnley youth systems, is part of Bangladesh's preparations for the qualifiers in Uzbekistan. Bangladesh have been drawn in Group B alongside hosts Uzbekistan, India and Syria.

The qualifiers will be played from August 31 to September 6, with the group winners and the best runners-up advancing to the AFC U-20 Asian Cup.

Abbas is eligible to represent Bangladesh through his family background.

Meanwhile, Farhan, 19, has moved to Boreham Wood to gain senior experience after progressing through Fulham's academy. The winger made an impression in Premier League 2 last season, scoring three goals in two matches in November and earning the league's Player of the Month award.

He also scored seven goals in 17 appearances for Fulham Under-18s before making his unofficial first-team debut in a pre-season friendly.

While Abbas will now have an immediate opportunity to establish himself at international youth level, Farhan's loan move is expected to give him valuable senior experience as Bangladesh continue to expand their pool of overseas-based players.
