Rain delays South Africa's charge

Sports Reporter from Bloemfontein

Update - 10:35pm: The umpires have walked out for an inspection and the covers are being lifted. The supersopper has been sopping up water from the covers for the last 10 minutes.

The start of second day of the second Test in Bloemfontein has been delayed because of rain in Bloemfontein that started from early morning. It has been a steady drizzle, but around 9:45am the rain got a little heavier. It seems to have stopped at the time of writing (10:15pm), and the heavy clouds have started to move away from the Mangaung Oval.

The forecast is better for the rest of the day, with the clouds set to start lifting around noon. The drainage system at the Mangaung Oval is said to be excellent, so hopefully there will not be too much of a delay.

South Africa had ended the first day on a mammoth 428 for three after Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim won the toss and elected to bowl first on a pitch that is excellent for batting, albeit also having good pace and bounce. Hashim Amla will resume unbeaten on 89 off just 99 deliveries while skipper Faf du Plessis will walk on with him on 62 off 92 balls.
