Sri Lanka women arrive for Bangladesh white-ball series
The Sri Lanka national women’s team, led by Chamari Athapaththu, arrived in Bangladesh on Friday to play a white-ball series against the hosts, scheduled to begin in Rajshahi on April 20.
The visitors landed in Dhaka at around 11:30am before taking a flight to Rajshahi at 5:00pm. The three-match WODI series will be held at Rajshahi Divisional Stadium on April 20, 22, and 25.
Following the WODI series, both teams will travel to Sylhet for a three-match WT20I series. The matches are scheduled for April 28, 30, and May 2 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Sri Lanka have named a strong 16-member squad for the ODI series and a 15-member squad for the T20Is.
This will be Sri Lanka’s first bilateral series against Bangladesh in Bangladesh. The two teams previously met only once in a bilateral series, in 2023 in Sri Lanka, where the hosts won the WODI and WT20I series by 1-0 and 2-1 margins respectively.
This will also be Sri Lanka Women’s first tour under new head coach Jamie Siddons, who previously served with the Bangladesh men’s team in various roles.
