Rupganj get first win; Mohammedan lose again

Legends of Rupganj got their first victory on the board while Mohammedan Sporting Club lost for the second consecutive game as all the three early matches of the Dhaka Premier League T20 Competition witnessed curtailed affairs on Tuesday.

Rupganj beat Shinepukur CC by 14 runs in a 14-over game in Mirpur. Batting first, Rupganj scored 81 for 6 in 12 overs, with Sunzamul Islam scoring an innings-high of 24 off 17 balls. Despite a 23-ball 30 from Mahidul Islam, Shinepukur could only manage 67 for six in 12 overs. Nabil Samad was the wrecker-in-chief, with three wickets for just a single run in two overs.

Mohammedan lost against Prime Doleshwar SC by 22 runs in a six-over-affair at BKSP-4. Batting first, Prime Doleshwar scored 78 for four with opener Imran Uzzaman smashing a 14-ball 41. Shakib Al Hasan took one wicket for 27 runs in two overs. Skipper Shakib then scored 22 off 14 balls but Mohammedan were restricted to 56 for four as they were consigned to their second defeat in a row. Shafiul Islam took three wickets for 22 runs in two overs.

The win took Prime Doleshwar to the top of the table.

At BKSP 3, Old DOHS registered a 16-run win over Khelaghar Saaj Kallyan Samity in a 13-over match. Anisul Islam Emon's 44 and Rayan Rahman's 37 propelled Old DOHS to 120 for four in 13 overs. In reply, Khelaghar managed 103 for five, with Jahurul Islam's unbeaten 37 the highest.
