Rain washes out 2nd T20I as Bangladesh lead series 1-0

Sports Reporter from Chattogram

The second T20I between Bangladesh and New Zealand at the Bir Shreshtha Flight Lt Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to persistent rain today.

Heavy to moderate showers continued throughout the day in the port city, leaving conditions overcast and the outfield too damp for play. The toss, originally scheduled for 1:30 pm, was delayed as ground staff struggled to make the field match-ready.

After several inspections, match officials called off the game at 4:20 pm, with no possibility of play.

Bangladesh currently lead the three-match series 1-0, having secured a 25-run victory in the opening encounter.

The third and final T20I is set to take place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Saturday.

According to a press release from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), spectators who purchased tickets online for the abandoned match will receive refunds in line with the board’s applicable policy.
