PCB reportedly freezes plans following Bangladesh stance

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly paused all preparations for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, set to take place from February 7 to March 8 across India and Sri Lanka, as uncertainty grows over Bangladesh’s participation.

Bangladesh’s refusal to travel to India has created a potential domino effect, with Pakistan now considering the implications for its own fixtures.

According to Geo News, team management will be briefed later on the way forward and asked to prepare contingency plans should Pakistan itself decide to withdraw from the tournament.

Officials confirmed that Pakistan is fully backing Bangladesh’s stance, calling the neighbouring team’s security concerns “reasonable and valid.”

The BCB has formally requested the ICC to relocate its matches from India to Sri Lanka, citing player safety, fan security, and logistical concerns.
