No local TV coverage for much-anticipated Australia-Bangladesh Tests

Bangladesh’s first Test series in Australia in 23 years will face a local television blackout, with no channel set to broadcast the matches.

While T Sports and Nagorik TV traditionally provide coverage of Bangladesh’s matches, it was learnt that neither channel will show the two-Test series this time.

Asked about the blackout, a top official of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said: “Yes, that’s what we are seeing at the moment, but we have a list of some online portals which would be showing the matches.”

The BCB source said the board became aware of the issue “at the last moment” on Wednesday. “We still don’t know the reason why the games won’t be shown,” the BCB official said.

According to Wednesday’s BCB press release, the matches will be available on digital streaming platforms -- Tapmad, for instance. Across South Asia, the series will be broadcast on Star Sports, but the channel’s coverage will not be available in Bangladesh.
