Mohammedan rope in high-profile names ahead of DPL transfers
Premier League clubs are ramping up preparations for the players’ transfer window, set to be held on Saturday and Sunday, with Mohammedan leading the way with a string of high-profile signings.
Following last year’s widespread pay cuts -- when DPL clubs cited economic constraints to justify reduced player payments -- the market appears to be regaining stability this season.
Mohammedan, mindful of the national team’s packed international schedule, have prioritised balance in their squad building. Openers Anamul Haque and Naim Sheikh have reportedly agreed to lucrative deals, with their full-season availability playing a key role in negotiations, as the tournament will be held in a single-league format.
The Black and Whites have also secured several national team players, including Taskin Ahmed, Afif Hossain, Rishad Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin, Taijul Islam and Ebadot Hossain. Among them, Taskin and Rishad are understood to have been signed for Tk 40 lakh and Tk 42 lakh respectively, although both are expected to be available for only seven to eight matches.
Veteran Mushfiqur Rahim has also reached an agreement with Mohammedan and is likely to feature in four matches, according to club sources.
Defending champions Abahani have been active as well, striking deals with Soumya Sarkar, Mahidul Islam Ankon and pacer Khaled Ahmed, while retaining the services of Najmul Hossain Shanto.
Meanwhile, Legends of Rupganj -- who had earlier released several players during the clubs vs BCB standoff and remained uncertain about their participation -- have reportedly secured Shoriful Islam, Saif Hassan and Sheikh Mahedi Hasan.
