Regional cricket on BCB's agenda

Star Sports Report

After being elected as the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board once again, Nazmul Hassan has prioritised three objectives among which he included establishing regional cricket associations which was a promise from his previous term.

The newly elected board of directors sat for a meeting after the BCB election commission officially announced the result today where Hassan was officially announced as the president of the board for the fourth time. However, it will be his third time as a full-term president.

After the formalities, Hassan attended the press conference and said that the board is giving priority to the implementation of the Sheikh Hasina Cricket Stadium, amendment of the constitution and forming of regional cricket associations.

"We want to complete building the Sheikh Hasina Cricket Stadium because to organize World Cup and ICC events, we must have this stadium. We shared our wish to organise such events to ICC and we mentioned that we will complete the work of the stadium. Hence we must complete its work," Hassan said.

"Also, we also want to amend the BCB constitution. There are many counselors who are not involved with cricket under the current constitution while there are many who are involved with cricket all throughout the year yet don't have a counselorship. We want to fix this issue." the president added.

He stated about the much-awaited regional cricket associations as the third priority.

"We want to start regional cricket associations. To do this, a few cricket academies need to be established, we are walking in that direction. Some academies will dedicatedly work with the batters, some will work with the spinners and others will be working with the fast bowlers. Generally, players outside the national team will get these facilities"
