Ebadot, Amite power East Zone to big win
Pacer Ebadot Hossain claimed the remaining three wickets of Central Zone’s innings within the first half-hour of the final day as East Zone secured a comfortable innings-and-53-run victory in their opening-round match of the 12th Bangladesh Cricket League four-day competition in Sylhet on Friday.
Resuming on an overnight score of 82 for seven, Central Zone lost their last three wickets for just 22 runs and were eventually bundled out for 103 in their second innings.
Ebadot, who took four wickets in the first innings, wrapped up the tail by dismissing Rakibul Hasan (11), Anamul Haque (0), and Shadman Islam (8), finishing with figures of 4-28 in the second innings. Fellow pacer Khaled Ahmed also took three wickets.
Earlier, Amite Hasan’s superb knock of 162 powered East Zone to 463 in their first innings in reply to Central Zone’s 307.
Meanwhile, in the other match, North Zone defeated South Zone by 10 wickets inside three days on Thursday.
Bangladesh Cricket Board is yet to announce the fixtures for the remaining two rounds of the BCL, which are expected to be held after the upcoming Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2025-26 season, scheduled to begin in early May.
