Borson's fifer helps Bangladesh Emerging side thrash SA counterparts in final's dress rehearsal

Bangladesh Men's Emerging side thrashed South Africa Emerging by eight wickets at Irene Villagers Cricket Club in Pretoria on Sunday to win the dress rehearsal ahead of Wednesday's final.

Sent in to bat, South Africa were reduced to 18-4 inside seven overs, with pacer Rohanat Doullah Borson claiming three early wickets. Spinners Abu Hasim and Samiun Basir then compounded the hosts' problems, leaving them 74-6.

A 89-run partnership between skipper Van Buuren (73) and Schalk Engelbrecht (45) offered some resistance before South Africa were bowled out for 169.

Borson was the standout performer, finishing with five wickets for 24 runs. He first breached Onkgomoditse Seletswane's defence with the fifth delivery of the fifth over before dismissing Daniel Smith with the final ball of the over. He then removed Gomolemo Phiri with his first delivery of the next over to complete a remarkable spell.

Bangladesh lost captain Zakir Hasan for 20 early in the chase, but Mahfijul Islam and Shahadat Hossain Dipu put them firmly in control with half-centuries. Mahfijul made 61 off 101 balls before being dismissed, while Dipu remained unbeaten on 72 to guide Bangladesh home.

Bangladesh, who have won three of their four round-robin matches, will face South Africa Emerging again in the final on Wednesday, August 12.
