Bangladesh host Afghanistan in the first of the three-match ODI series at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram today, with an eye on the ICC 2023 World Cup Super League standings.

The Tigers, who will play their first match in the format since July 2021, are currently in second position with 80 points from 12 matches, 15 points behind leaders England. A series victory will see the hosts get to the top, with 10 points allocated for each victory.

The visitors, meanwhile, aren't too far off as they have 60 points from six games with an all-win record so far.

The series will also mark the return to international cricket for Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal, who endured a lengthy layoff before making a return to cricket through the BPL recently.

Bangladesh have a 5-3 win-loss record against Afghanistan, with the most recent meeting ending in a 62-run victory for the Tigers during the 2019 World Cup in England.
