BCB to stage ‘Women’s Cup’ with 1st division players in May
The women’s wing of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Saturday announced the launch of the ‘BCB Women’s Cup’, scheduled to be held in Dhaka from May 5–14, featuring cricketers who participated in the last Dhaka Women’s First Division Cricket League.
According to a press release, a total of eight teams will compete in the tournament, creating opportunities for 112 players to take part in a structured and competitive environment.
All participating players will receive a match fee of Tk 25,000 for the entire tournament.
The BCB will also arrange accommodation for players and coaching staff throughout the competition.
In addition, prize money will be awarded in several categories, including champion team, player of the match and other individual performance awards.
This year, the Dhaka Women’s First Division Cricket League could not take place due to clubs’ protests over the current board’s legitimacy.
Meanwhile, the inaugural Women’s Bangladesh Premier League (WBPL), which was initially scheduled to be held in April with three franchises, has recently been postponed to July.
