BCB dismisses uncertainty over Pakistan ODI series

Star Sports Report

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Monday dismissed claims of any uncertainty surrounding Pakistan’s upcoming tour of Bangladesh due to ongoing regional tensions.

BCB officials said they have not received any communication from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding potential disruptions and stressed that preparations for the series are continuing as planned. With direct flights available from Pakistan to Dhaka, officials added that they do not foresee any travel-related complications.

Pakistan are scheduled to arrive on March 9 to play three ODIs, beginning March 11 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. The series is set to kick off a crucial stretch of 50-over fixtures for Bangladesh as they aim to secure direct qualification for the 2027 ODI World Cup.

BCB cricket operations committee members told The Daily Star that there are currently no security concerns in Bangladesh, and that the board expects the tour to proceed as scheduled.

Foreign media reports had suggested that escalating tensions in the Middle East could cast doubt over the series. A report by Geo Super stated that the tour would only go ahead if the prevailing situation does not escalate travel risks or security concerns.

However, BCB officials reiterated that they have not been formally informed of any uncertainty by the PCB.

Meanwhile, separate reports indicated that while Pakistan’s tour is reportedly facing uncertainty due to regional tensions, significant changes to their squad are expected for the upcoming assignment.
