Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam Bulbul has departed the country on Monday citing family reasons, BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury confirmed to The Daily Star.

“Bulbul bhai has gone out of the country due to family reasons. He will be in Australia to meet his family. He will be returning in a few weeks,” Nizamuddin informed.

Bulbul wished everyone for Ramadan in BCB directors’ WhatsApp group, another BCB director also informed. “I am leaving for emergency family issues and I will be returning shortly,” Bulbul had texted as per the BCB director.

BCB has been unstable over the last few weeks following Bangladesh’s exclusion from the ongoing T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka. Differences between directors in the board, difference with media has also come under the limelight recently.

Meanwhile, BCB’s Chief Program Coordinator Minhajul Abedin Nannu talked to the media today in front of the BCB premises, saying that things will be better when the newly elected government comes, resolves the issues that have been eating away at country’s cricket.

“With a newly elected government set to take oath, we hope everything will now proceed smoothly. There have been misunderstandings among clubs, and those issues must be resolved,” Nannu said, identifying the standoff between club and BCB, which saw many clubs unwilling to participate in domestic leagues under the Bulbul-led board.

Nannu observed that there cannot be any compromise on cricket. “We want our cricket to come first -- our Bangladesh above everything.

“Keeping that in mind, we have to move forward. There should be no compromise when it comes to the game. We want the best possible outcome for everyone.”
