Star Sports Report

Bangladesh Under-19 team became champions in the U19 Triangular Series beating India Under-19 B team in the final by 181 runs at the Eden Garden in Kolkata on Tuesday.

The Young Tigers were sent in to bat first and had an early stumble as opener Mahfijul Islam returned to the dressing room for duck. Afterwards, MD Nowrose Prantik and Iftakhar Hossain strung together a 40-run second-wicket-stand. However, the middle-order and lower-middle-order collapsed despite Aich Mollah's individual effort to gain the momentum back in their favour.

Aich played a 93-run knock featuring 10 fours and a couple of maximums while tail-ender Ashiqur Zaman's scored a half-century as Bangladesh U-19s posted 234 all out in 41.4 overs.

Dhanush Gowda scaled three wickets for the Indian side while Ravi Kumar, Aum Kanabar and Shashwat Dangwal bagged a couple of wickets each.

In reply, Indian batters collapsed against Bangladesh's bowling attack as they lost their first four wickets inside 15 runs. Naimur Rohman Noyon's four-wicket-haul restricted India to a humble total of 53. Uday Saharan's 26-runs were the highest score by an Indian batter in the final.

Ashiqur again showed good form with the ball picking up a couple of wickets and he was adjudged the player-of-the-match.

Bangladesh U-19s won all the matches in the tournament finishing top of the points table with 14 points. India Under-19 A team were the other side in the tournament.
