Bangladesh to face India in semis after Covid abandons group-deciding match

Bangladesh's group deciding fixture of the U-19 Asia Cup against Sri Lanka in Sharjah was abandoned midway through the match today after one of the umpires returned positive Covid result, according to reports.

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, already through to semifinals, were playing Group B's last match which would have decided the group winners and runners-up.

Sri Lanka won the toss and sent Bangladesh to bat. The boys in red and green were 130 for the loss of four wickets after 32.4 overs when the match was abandoned.

Bangladesh, thanks to a superior run rate, took the top spot and will face runners-up of Group A, India, in their semifinal on December 30. Sri Lanka and Pakistan will square off in the other semifinal.
