Another women’s team cricketer tests positive for Covid-19

Star Sports Report

Another cricketer of the Bangladesh women's team tested positive for coronavirus after returning from Zimbabwe earlier this month following the World Cup qualifiers which were halted midway due to concerns about a new variant of Covid-19 in Africa.

However, this cricketer has not been infected by Omicron, the new variant of Covid-19.

Earlier, two other members of the cricket team turned positive for Covid-19.

"She was found positive just two to three days after the first two cricketers returned positive for Covid-19. However, unlike the other two members, she has not been infected by the Omicron variant.

"All the three cricketers are now kept in isolation at Mugda Medical College and Hospital under government's supervision," informed Tawhid Mahmud, manager of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Women's Wing.

All the other members of the team were moved to the BCB Academy where they have been undergoing 14-day mandatory quarantine since returning to the country. They will undergo another round of Covid-19 tests tomorrow. Upon returning negative results, they will be sent home.
