Vikings break home drought
Opener Cameron Delport's 57-ball 71 helped Chittagong Vikings to beat Dhaka Dynamites by 11 runs, ending their three-match losing streak in their Bangladesh Premier League encounter at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram today.
Electing to bat, a 79-run third wicket partnership between skipper Mushfiqur Rahim and Delport ensured Chittagong finish on a high before the former fell prey to Andre Russell after having scored 43 runs off 24 balls in the final over of the game. Dhaka all-rounder Russell then went on to become the third player to take a hat-trick as he dismissed Delport and Shanaka in the next two deliveries.
Chasing the challenging total, Dhaka suffered a batting collapse at the top but contributions from skipper Shakib Al Hasan (53 runs off 42balls), Nurul Hasan (33 runs off 23 balls) and Russell (39 runs off 23 balls) took them close to the target but eventually fell short on the day as they could manage 163 for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs.
