Saifuddin ‘not getting’ Miller talk after heroic display

When Mohammad Saifuddin and death overs are mentioned together, a Bangladesh cricket team fan usually thinks about the over where South African David Miller plundered five sixes off the bowler. Today, Saifuddin, who bowled magnificently throughout, came out on top as he was able to thwart Dhaka Dynamites's passage into the last four of the Bangladesh Premier League, snatching a one-run victory over Dhaka Dynamites.

He removed the dangerous Kieron Pollard and Nurul Hasan off back-to-back deliveries but his real test came when he was asked to bowl the last over of the innings with Dhaka needing 13. He responded by picking up a wicket and a few dot balls. He was hit for six on the fifth but bowled a yorker in the last ball. Batsman Andre Russell was floored and only managed an inside edge which went for four.

Asked if he that 'David Miller over' was running through his mind before the last delivery, Saifuddin smiled wryly.

"I don't get it, whenever I come to the press conference, you guys together talk about that," he said.

"What's gone in cricket is in the past. I have proved myself and said that I can do it in this match. I think I was almost able to that. If opportunities arrive in the future, I will try to win the match for my team," he added.

His experience after having featured in death overs, had hardened him and he wants to shine in order to show his value to the side. He showed calmness today after being hit for six and bowled that brilliant yorker. Having bagged four wickets, he was the player-of-the match as Comilla successfully defended 127 runs.

"For those of us who are international cricketers, or stars, there is no value in being average. You have to perform extraordinarily compared to the others.

"Comilla Victorians gives me priority [in death overs] and I try to repay the team by performing well. I enjoy bowling under pressure situations, Saifuddin concluded.
