Fizz, Miraz hand Kings easy victory
Rajshahi Kings restricted Mahmudullah Riyad's Khulna Titans to 117 for 9 before chasing down the target with seven wickets to spare at Mirpur's Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today.
Khulna won the toss and elected to bat first but were thwarted by Mehedi Miraz's Rajshahi as none of the batsmen got going against the likes of Sri Lanka's Isuru Udana and Bangladesh's Mustafizur Rahman.
Fizz got the dangerous Paul Stirling(16) after Titans had made a solid start with 40 runs in 4.4 overs. Junaid Siddique, the other opener top-scored with 23 before Udana got his scalp. Regular fall of wickets saw Khulna reach 117 for 9 from 20 overs.
Mominul Haque struck a 43-ball 44 while captain Mehedi Miraz, coming in to bat at number 2, struck 51 off 45 deliveries as Kings tasted their first victory in the tournament after losing to Rangpur Riders and Dhaka Dynamites in their first two matches. Mehedi fell at the death but Rajshahi were too close to victory to falter.
