Expectations from Shakib are always high: Domingo
After an abysmal tour of Sri Lanka where a Tamim Iqbal-led Bangladesh were whitewashed in a three-match ODI series in July, Bangladesh will be looking to get back to winning ways with a win in their one-off Test against Afghanistan starting from September 5 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
Russell Domingo, who will be making his debut in the Chattogram Test as the head coach of the Tigers, said he has high expectations from the nation's premier all-rounder and Bangladesh's Test skipper Shakib Al Hasan ahead of the match.
"He [Shakib] has been the leading all-rounder in world cricket for a long time. So the expectations [from Shakib] are always high. I think more importantly, his expectations from himself is very high. He sets really high standards and he has trained really hard. His performances in all formats have been really fantastic. Hopefully he can improve on that and sustain that. Our expectations from him as a leader and a player is very high." said Domingo to the reporters at a press conference in Chattofram today.
Shakib, who took a break from the Tigers' tour of Sri Lanka in July, will be returning to international cricket after the World Cup in England. Although Bangladesh had a disappointing World Cup -- finishing eighth on the table -- Shakib was one of the top performers in the mega event.
