Ebadat ends Sylhet’s campaign on sweet note
Pacer Ebadat Hossain's figures of four wickets for 17 runs helped Sylhet Sixers -- who are already out of the title race -- to defend a challenging 165-run total and win their last game of this BPL by 29 runs against Chittagong Vikings -- who already confirmed their last-four spot -- and end Sylhet's BPL campaign on a sweet note at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium today.
It was Ebadat, who scalped the wicket of opener Cameron Delport in the second over of the game after Taskin Ahmed gave Sixers their first break through in the first over by dismissing Mohammad Ashraful for a duck. Ebadat came back later and also picked up wickets of Mosaddek Hossain, Dasun Shanaka and Hardus Viljoen in the middle. Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim's 48 runs off 32 balls was the only highlight in Vikings' innings but Chittagong fell short on the day despite his efforts. After Mushfiqur was run out in the 16 th over, it was just a matter of time for the Sixers as they won the game eventually.
Earlier, Sylhet opener Fletcher scored a brilliant 53-ball 66 and also strung together a 65-run third-wicket partnership with Sabbir Rahman before the former got dismissed after scoring 32 runs off 25 balls. However, a late 19-ball 34-run cameo from Mohammad Nawaz ensured Sylhet finish on a high.
