Day 2: Tigers manage 194 for eight at the close
It has been Afghanistan's day at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram today. Afghanistan managed to post a total of 342 for 10 -- their highest total in Test history -- earlier today. After the exchange, Bangladesh lost their opener Shadman Islam in the very first over of the game. And when Rashid Khan removed Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim in the same over just before Tea, Bangladesh were left reeling on 88 for five. Although Mominul Haque scored a team high of 52 off 71 in the middle, the Tigers could not really manage to recover from that as they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. At one point, when the Tigers lost Mehedi Hasan Miraz in the 52nd over with the score on 146 for eight, it seemed like Bangladesh would get bundled out and would not be able to see the day through. However, an unbeaten 48-run ninth-wicket stand between Taijul Islam and Mosaddek Hossain helped the Tigers negotiate the rest of the overs on the day. Bangladesh trail by 148 runs with 2 wickets remaining in the innings.
66.6- Ban 194/8: Mosaddek Hossain takes a stride to play a Zahir Khan delivery and manages to steal a double as the ball goes past the fielder at gully. That's the last ball of the day. The Tigers managed to survive, thanks to an unbeaten 48-run ninth-wicket stand between Mosaddek and Taijul Islam.
Tigers limp past 150
53.1- Ban 155/8: Mosaddek Hossain comes down the track and smashes a Qais Ahmad delivery straight over the bowlers head for a six. Although the Tigers bring up 150 with a six, Bangladesh have struggled for the most part of the innings. Bangladesh still trail by 193 runs with just two wickets remaining in the innings.
Play resumes after brief delay
4:17 pm: The rain has stopped and the covers are removed. The batsmen get back to the field as the play resumes just after a brief delay.
Rain halts the play
4:15 pm: The rain in Chattogram gets heavier and the umpires have called for the covers to come out. However, the players haven't even quite left the field as it starts to ease once more.

38.5- Ban 104/6: Another huge appeal from Afghanistan players as a Rashid Khan beats Mosaddek Hossain with yet another wrong one. Original decision is not out but Afghanistan go for the review. And it shows that the ball was pitching outside off and the umpire stays with his initial decision. Afghanistan lose both of their reviews.
[Wicket] 38.1- Ban 104/6: Mahmudullah b Rashid Khan 7 (13b 1x4 0x6) SR: 53.84
The wrong one from Rashid Khan gets the better of Mahmudullah Riyad. The ball that started from outside the off, came inside and kept a bit low as it rattles Riyad's stumps. Rashid gets his fourth wicket. Bangladesh in deep trouble.
35.6- Ban 103/5: Mahmudullah comes down the track and tries to hit a Mohammad Nabi ball. However, there is a huge appeal for a bat-pad catch from the Afghanistan players. Original decision not out. But the Afghanistan players go for the review. And the review shows that the ball was hitting the pads and also would have missed the stumps. The umpire stays with the original decision. Afghanistan lose their first review.

Possibly a googly from Rashid Khan and the ball is dragged back onto the stumps. Liton Das b Rashid Khan 33 (66b 3x4 1x6) SR: 50.00 This brings Shakib Al Hasan into the crease.
19.4 - Ban 38/2: Nabi breaks the Soumya-Liton stand. Went straight with the arm and Soumya goes back in his crease to perhaps counter the turn. Misses the line of the delivery and is trapped in front. Soumya Sarkar lbw b Mohammad Nabi 17 (66b 0x4 0x6) SR: 25.75
16.6 - Ban 28/1: Liton gets down on his knees and hits it to deep mid-wicket. Man there. Fielder dives and gets to the ball but cannot keep it in hold. Dropped! Ball goes for six.

5.1 - Ban 3/1: Nabi draws Liton forward and traps him in front of the stumps. Umpire gives out and Liton reviews. The ball has spun miles after pitching outside off and missing the stumps. Not out.

He managed to get an inside edge off Liton as the ball missed the stumps by a whisker.
Earlier, Afghanistan added 71 runs to their overnight score of 271 for 5 and were bowled out for 342. Asghar Afghan missed out on a ton, perishing to Taijul Islam for 92 before Afsar Zazai also followed suit after scoring 41. Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan blazed to a 50 before he was the final Afghan wicket to fall.
0.4 -Ban 0/1 - Shadman Islam drawn into playing the delivery and paceman Yamin Ahmadzai -- a rare breed in this Test match with Bangladesh having no frontline pacer in their lineup -- gets the edge of the bat. Brilliant delivery as Shadman goes for naught. Shadman Islam c †Afsar Zazai b Yamin Ahmadzai 0 (4b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00
11:40 am: A little of the morning session left as Shadman Islam and Soumya Sarkar come out to bat.

Only manages to spoon it to Mushfiqur Rahim behind the wicket. Taijul bags his third and it brings Afghan skipper Rashid Khan to the crease.
9:59 am: The players are out in the middle and Mehedi Miraz will start proceedings for the Tigers. The first session is crucial for Afghanistan in order to really make Bangladesh sweat here.
It's Day 2 in the one-off Test match between Bangladesh and Afghanistan. The visitors have shown the capacity to play the waiting game and take chances whenever they presented itself, evidenced by Rahmat Shah's ton and Asghar Afghan's innings. The Tigers' spinners have not always made home advantage count and the track still looks quite good for batting.
Asghar would be eyeing a ton as well while Afsar Zazai had also played well for his 35 yesterday.
With the aim being to outplay the opposition with spin, the home side were desperately hoping for assistance from the pitch at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) in Chattogram, where Shakib gambled on winning the toss and batting first.
But luck did not favour the hosts as Rashid Khan won the toss and expectedly opted to bat. There was then not much of a threat from a Bangladesh spin department that has less variety when compared to Afghanistan's wide range of spinners in leg-spinners like Rashid Khan, Qais Ahmed, chinaman bowler Zahir Khan and off-spinner Mohammad Nabi.
